In the Beginning...

I have discovered that there are many things on my mind which I cannot and probably should not discuss on my blog for my children at school. So in this, my Sanctuary, I will share what is on my mind OUTSIDE of the walls of my school (shout out to my EC KNIGHTS! E.C. on DECK!!!)

First and foremost, at least for today, is that I am very happy with the look and performance of my Army Black Knights! They are currently 2-1 (they SHOULD be 3-0 right now, but they choked in the second half against Duke, who got SPANKED by Kansas this afternoon!), and even with the hiccup against the Blue Devils, there seems to be a much different mindset in this team. There is more of the "honorable swagger" that they had when I was at the Academy in the 80's. They are more confident and get after the ball much more this season. Congratulations and thank you to Coach Ellerson for a great coaching job so far. I'm hoping that they will win at least six games, beat AIR FORCE and NAVY, and go to a bowl game this year! GO ARMY! Keep it up!

Well, there are always two sides to every coin, and the "tails" side for me is the question marks surrounding my OTHER favorite team, the Georgia Bulldogs (West Point [Army] is my alma mater; I'm just a fan of the Dawgs). They look good, like they always do, but the defense looks iffy again this year. There was a time when Willie Martinez, the defensive coordinator, seemed like he could do no wrong. NOW, it just looks like anything he does has some kind of hole in it that our opponents tend to exploit. I hope they do well against Arkansas tonight, but if we hope to have ANY chance against teams of the caliber of Tennessee, Florida, Auburn, and Georgia Tech, not to mention LSU, we have GOT to make some positive adjustments on defense! Nonetheless, I ride or die with my Black Knights and my Dawgs! I'm definitely NOT a fair weather fan, and I'll wear their colors and root for them no matter what! I think, though, that a good season for the Dawgs this year looks like a good season for Army; win six games and go to a bowl with THIS team, and for me, that's a success. The Georgia alumni and other fans won't like that too much, though....

Those are my college football thoughts, so far, because I am a HUGE college football fan! Besides waxing somewhat eloquent about the limited perspective I have about college football, I'll also put my thoughts on "blogpaper" (lol) about politics, about education, about Christianity, and anything else that crosses my mind in this life. Thank goodness for the opportunity to do so in this medium.

Shalom...
